While Rockford was labeled by Forbes as one of the ten most miserable cities in which to live, it would be difficult to prove if you looked at the fellowship in the worship and activities of Providence OPC. Catechism classes, ladies Bible study, men’s prayer breakfast, and officers training have continued on.
The members continue to love the gospel, and invite friends and neighbors to the worship services and Bible studies. The husband of one visitor was recently released from prison and is in attendance.
A long time visitor completed the Inquirers Class and will be received as a member.
Last August we reported that a member of the Gospel Life OPC in Chicago was doing a six-week study program in Rockford. She was recently in Rockford for a second six-week time of study. She was instrumental in having Pastor John Ro in Chicago teach a lunchtime Bible study to the Christian Pharmacist Fellowship International via satellite. Pastor John Hilbelink of Providence Church will soon be doing the same.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts of those who visit Providence Church, so that they may rejoice in the mercy and grace of Christ and, along with the people of the congregation, know him as their Savior and Lord.
There is an answer to “miserable” – Christ who bore our sins carried our sorrows!
