Rev. Dan and Jill McManigal moved to Seattle, Washington, to be near a good school for their son, who is hearing impaired. The family quickly settled at Westminster OPC in Monroe. Soon after, the session approached Dan, who has pastored congregations in the OPC and URC, about the possibility of planting a church in Seattle. Late last fall the session had little more than $1,700 from an offering.
While the session was talking with Dan, God was gathering a small group of people interested in being part of a reformed church plant in Seattle. Soon a Bible study was meeting. The ninth time the group met was a combined worship service with the Monroe congregation.
There are 27 committed members, and 50 people gathered for worship several weeks ago. Pray that more people will join the group, which now meets at the Mercer Island Community Center. Pray too that the group will continue to bond and grow together in grace. Pray that the Lord will provide for the group financially as well.
