Good Shepherd OPC held a community picnic in June, which attracted several visitors. Several of those visitors signed their children up for vacation Bible school, which was held last week. As a follow-up to VBS, the congregation is beginning an eight-week presentation of Christianity Explored for adults with Pilgrim’s Progress for children. In addition to invitations at VBS, members have invited friends, and the church’s website has a video advertising the series. Pray that many will attend. The congregation will soon lose three members as they move. Despite faithful effort in outreach, Good Shepherd has seen few local visitors. Pray that the Lord will bless these efforts by bringing both new believers and more core families to Good
Providence OPC was organized as a particular congregation on May 15. Praise the Lord for establishing this church. Pastor Stevenson reminded the church that rather than reaching their goal, their work has just begun. Pray that they will not grow complacent but rather will continue to grow in their love for our Savior. The group has renewed their lease for one year but will likely need a larger facility after that. Pray that the Lord will provide an adequate meeting place for Providence. Praise God for faithful giving by the congregation. Praise him too for several new visitors in recent weeks. Most have come by word of mouth. Pray that more friends and neighbors of Providence’s members will come to worship.
Attendance at South Austin Presbyterian Church has grown by about ten people in the last few months. Several families have moved into the area and are considering membership. There are a good number of regular visitors and new visitors attend worship each week, including several unbelievers. A deacon candidate has completed training. Pray for wisdom in determining what outreach efforts will be most effective. A man from Dripping Springs, a fast-growing Austin suburb about half an hour from SAPC, recently approached Pastor Cassidy about reaching out there. Plans are being made to hold evangelistic Bible studies there in the fall. Pray that the Lord will bless these studies and give wisdom regarding future church planting in the greater
Several people are going through the membership process at Anaheim Hills Presbyterian Church. The congregation regularly has unbelievers at worship. Pastor Hartshorn reports that they are thankful to have solid families, but they pray for more unbelievers. Pray that the Lord will send more unbelievers to hear his word preached faithfully. Pray for a member family that has been separated for months due to an immigration paperwork delay. With attendance nearly doubling in the last few months, the congregation has outgrown its current room. Pray that the congregation will be able to move into a larger room at their current facility. Pray too for wisdom in establishing a Bible study in Corona, CA where six families recently attended an
Since organizing last fall, Pastor Fowler has been encouraged by serving with the new session and deacon, as they have brought new strength and focus in the work of the church. Many have participated in outreach efforts this spring, and visitors have come to worship as a result. A man recently professed his faith and was baptized. Pray that the Lord will provide opportunities to present the gospel to more unbelievers. Pray too with Pastor Fowler that four new families will join the work. A detailed plan for Christian Education has been laid out, and hopes are to hold a conference on apologetics at the conclusion of a Sunday school class on the topic. Pray that the Lord will provide a pianist, and that he will provide a new facility in time,
