Verde Valley Reformed Chapel’s move to a school has been good. The space is easier to find than their old location, and several new local visitors have come to worship. Pastor Chang has begun doing door-to-door outreach. He also had the opportunity to speak to the Cru (formerly Campus Crusade) group at Northern Arizona University, and will soon speak at a local Christian school that seems to be moving in the Reformed direction. Several applicants for teaching positions at the school have indicated a desire for Reformed worship in the area. The congregation is also advertising in a monthly mailer. Praise God for these avenues into the community and pray that he will bless the congregation with local growth.
Last Sunday, 61 people gathered for worship, which would have stretched the capacity of their former meeting place. The new location has enabled Christ the King to open a Christian counseling center. Pray that many will use it and be blessed. A local couple has visited regularly and is already serving faithfully. A family of eight indicated their desire to worship with the congregation when they move to Naples in a few months. A Cuban woman called recently asking about a Spanish service. She now attends evening worship and a member translates for her. Praise God for these new visitors. Pray that he will add many more locals to the body. Pray too, that the Lord will send a summer intern to work with Pastor Hausler.
Fifteen people are currently preparing for membership at Gospel Life. One man was baptized several weeks ago, and another man is preparing to profess his faith and be baptized. A covenant child was also recently baptized. There is high turnover at Gospel Life as many new members are students. Pray that the congregation will maintain a good sense of unity in this constant transition. About 10 people, including visitors, meet each week for a Bible study, and several visitors have come to worship as a result. The Presbytery of the Midwest recently appointed the session of Westminster OPC to serve as the overseeing session for the work. Pastor Ro reports that the transition has been smooth, and the congregation of Westminster has been
Trinity’s elders and deacons will meet later this month for a long-range planning meeting. Pray for wisdom as they consider hiring an associate pastor and planting a church in the next few years. Pray too for grace and wisdom as they minister to the congregation. The move to afternoon services in rented space in a Lutheran church in Syosset has gone well. Attendance at worship is about 130, and there are new visitors nearly every week. Two people were recently interviewed for membership and nine more are scheduled for interviews in the coming weeks. The deacons have ministered well to the congregation during various recent struggles. Pray for continued faithfulness in reaching out to friends and neighbors.
Seventy people attended a recent conference hosted by Good Shepherd OPC, and several attendees visited worship in the following weeks, but attendance has evened out again since then. One man came to church last Sunday as a result of a banner advertising worship on Easter, and a couple from Brazil attended evening worship. The church is losing three men due to moves out of the area. The congregation has been faithful in prayer and outreach but has seen little fruit. An outreach picnic is planned in June, followed by VBS, which was well-attended last year. Pray that the Lord will bless their efforts and encourage the congregation. A game night and progressive dinner are planned to give the body opportunity for fellowship. Pray that these will
