Spring is a welcome sight in West Lebanon where there was significant snowfall four weekends in a row. The congregation now gathers for fifth-Sunday fellowship meals. Sunday school classes began in February, and teens and adults are now studying the foundations of our faith. Pray for several in the class who are preparing to become communicant members in the coming months. More in the community are hearing of Providence Presbyterian Church, and several visitors have begun attending worship on a semi-regular basis. Praise the Lord for providing financially. A couple of Dartmouth College students accompany on the piano many weeks. Please pray for increasing opportunities at the college. Pray too for effective outreach to the neighborhood
The first public worship service at New City Fellowship was held one year ago. About 220 people gathered for worship last week, of which roughly 35 are from the original core group. The session is currently conducting two or three membership interviews nearly every week. Praise the Lord for growth from New City’s neighborhood, and pray that still more will come. Some neighbors, whose children attended last summer’s Bible club (VBS), are still attending worship. Plans are being made to hold clubs in two locations this summer. Pray that the Lord will bless these clubs and other outreach efforts. The congregation’s building is serving it well, but the boiler must be replaced. Pray that the Lord will provide the means to take on this large
Attendance at Reformation OPC has remained steady in the low 50s. Several young people recently professed their faith and another covenant child was baptized. The congregation is in the midst of a concerted outreach effort. They have advertised on the front page of the local paper in mailers and with flyers. Pray that God will bless these efforts with new families. Pastor Fowler praises God for providing faithful, hardworking elders who have been a blessing to the congregation. The congregation is also well served by a faithful deacon. Praise God with the congregation for his financial provision as well. Pray that the Lord will provide a pianist to accompany the congregation’s singing.
Remember to pray for Covenant OPC and their pastor Christopher Chelpka as they have completed their program of denominational financial assistance. Pray that the Lord will bless the church with new families and that visitors will continue to be drawn to the congregation through their outreach into the community. Already, the congregation’s elders are serving on the overseeing sessions of two other mission works. Pray that the Lord will provide strength and wisdom as they serve Covenant and the works in Concho and Yuma.
Christ Covenant OPC now gathers twice each Lord’s Day. One week a month, that means an afternoon service after the monthly fellowship meal. The other weeks are evening gatherings with varied formats. A member who has been brought under care of the Presbytery is now teaching Sunday school. Pastor Wilkins praises God for a strong core group and good fellowship. The congregation has been faithful in outreach and sees visitors once or twice a month, but the numbers are not growing. Pray that God will give wisdom and effectiveness in outreach and that more families will be added to the number in Crystal Lake. Praise God that despite the stagnant numbers, he has provided abundantly in financial matters.
