The Lord continues to bring many vacationers and snowbirds to worship on Sundays, but soon the snowbirds will head north again. Installation of a panic bar on the meeting place’s door has increased allowable occupancy of the space to 120, a good thing considering the expected number of worshipers on Easter exceeds the previous limit. A regularly attending couple has expressed their desire to join, and a family plans to attend Christ the King when they move to Naples. Pray that they will find suitable housing in the area. A summer women’s ministries and Christian education intern will work with children at the church, and the charter school across the street. Pray for increased opportunities to minister to families from the school. Praise
As Reformation Presbyterian Church comes to the end of its period of denominational financial support, Pastor Shishko is praying for 25 new members, and it looks like that will happen soon. There are currently 12 people taking a membership class, and ten more are considering membership. Three babies were recently born in the congregation, and three more women are expecting. The Shishkos host one monthly fellowship event at their home, and another member hosts another. Pray that the congregation will continue to grow in a culture of commitment and community. Sunday evening gatherings have been postponed for now, but a prayer meeting has been added each Sunday.
Verde Valley Reformed Chapel’s move to a more visible location at a school has resulted in more visitors. One regular attender will be moving at the end of the school year, but she is encouraging others to come to VVRC. One new regular attender began coming after talking to a Reformed friend in another state. Another local couple has also visited. Praise God for these new visitors, and pray that he will send at least two more families from Cottonwood, as many drive a distance to worship. Pray too for the session as they reach out to some who have drifted away from the group. Pray for VVRC’s ruling elder who continues to suffer from severe headaches, which have been debilitating at times.
Immanuel Church has seen more first time visitors over the last six months than during the previous 18 months. Several returned to worship last Sunday. Pray that more visitors will become regular attenders, and that average attendance will reach 30 by year’s end. The Hoekstras regularly have neighbors over to their home, and Pastor Hoekstra meets often with two neighbors to answer their questions about the Bible. Praise God for unity in the congregation, and the willingness of many to serve wherever needed. In April Immanuel will host an Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals conference on suffering. Invitations have gone out to local colleges, churches, counseling centers and support groups. Pray that the Lord will use this to bring many in
Pastor Strong and others spent much of the last few days at Lander’s Winter Fair. He reports that they had many substantial gospel conversations with people who attended. Several people mentioned hearing him on the radio. One person who heard Pastor Strong’s sermon on the radio after moving to Lander has become a regular attender. The congregation has a presence on Facebook and this week launched a new website. Pray that the Lord will continue to use these means to bring more people to Grace Reformed Fellowship. Pray for wisdom in reaching out to those who live on the nearby Wind River Indian Reservation. Praise God for a growing commitment to outreach by the congregation.
