Hillsdale OPC is growing. Eleven people from the community have joined. Several students from Hillsdale College are preparing to join; some of them will be baptized upon their profession of faith. Three babies were born recently and more are on the way. Pray for the continued health of mothers and children. A counseling practice is renting two offices from the church, but due to the growth, there is no more space to rent. Another community Bible study is under way and several new visitors have attended. The Presbytery of Michigan and Ontario approved the congregation’s petition to particularize. Pray for the session as they transition to being a new and separate congregation. Pray too for wisdom in effectively reaching out to the community.
Officer training is complete at Providence OPC, and the congregation is preparing for a meeting to petition the Presbytery of the Central United States to be particularized. Pray for wisdom for the two elder candidates. Morning attendance is steady at about 60 people, and the evening service has been well received also. Many remain after morning worship to share a fellowship meal. Pray for wisdom in setting the Lord’s Day schedule to benefit those who drive a great distance to worship. While there is still space in the current location, the congregation is beginning to prepare for the day when they need a larger space. Pray that the people of Providence will continue to grow in their love for God, and that the congregation will also grow in
Redeemer OP Mission was without heat for the month of January. In February, they found out that their lease could not be renewed because of the wording of the property’s deed. March 8 was the congregation’s first Sunday in its new home at Trinity Christian School’s auditorium. The rent is slightly higher, but still reasonable, and the facility is nicer. The change of venue also means a change of neighborhood from Wilkinsburg to Forrest Hills. Pray for wisdom as plans are made to reach out to the people of their new community. Five people professed their faith, and two were baptized last week. Pastor Albaugh is praying that the work will be self-sustaining and self-governing by year’s end. Pray that more solid core families will be added to
Heritage Presbyterian Church now calls downtown Royston home. They have had more visitors in the last three months than in the previous three years. Pray for wisdom as the congregation seeks to effectively reach out to their community. Pastor Myers is praying that the Lord will add ten families to the work this year. Pray that people will be intentionally welcoming as new families are added. Pray that God will raise up officers. A young woman in the congregation is battling cancer. Pray that the Lord will bless her treatments and heal her. Pray for peace for her and her family. Pastor Myers leads both men’s and women’s Bible studies at a local college. Pray that the students will be blessed through the studies.
Pastor Strong reports that Grace Reformed Fellowship ordained and installed a new elder and two new deacons recently. Pray that the Lord will give wisdom as they learn how to share the work of leading the congregation. A renewed emphasis on shepherding has been well received. Pray that the elders will minister effectively to the body. Participation at the Wednesday night Bible study has been encouraging. The congregation is preparing for the upcoming Winter Fair, and Pastor Strong recently had the opportunity to present the gospel at a local political breakfast. Pray that the Lord will use these and other interactions to bring people to himself. Praise God for the work that is evident in the children of the congregation.
