Pastor Herndon reports slow, but steady growth in the second least religious state in the country. The people of Providence church have been praying for young families, and the Lord has answered by bringing several new members. The congregation is diverse in age with retired people, young families and two college students. Pray that visitors will return and become part of the body. Pray that the Lord will raise up officers to lead the congregation. The congregation has given faithfully, and the Lord enabled them to meet their budget in 2015. Preparations are being made to work with members of Covenant OPC in Barre, VT to work on summer outreach in both locations. Pray for wisdom as these plans are being made.
About 200 gather each week for worship at New City Fellowship including new visitors each week. Pastor Edmondson is currently focusing on providing opportunities for the congregation to pray together and to enjoy fellowship with each other. The congregation has a van that picks up people from the neighborhood to take them to worship, but there is a need for a vehicle with a wheelchair lift. Pray that the Lord will provide such a vehicle. Pray too that the Lord will give the people of NCF wisdom as they seek to love their neighbors by meeting varied and complex needs. Pray that the Lord will raise up leaders for children’s ministry, so discipleship efforts can be broadened. Pray too for officers to be raised up for the congregation.
Living Water OPC held its first morning worship service last Sunday. It was also the first service in their new rented space, a church building which is theirs throughout the week and for nearly the same cost as the hotel conference room they rented for evening worship. Pray that the congregation will be effective in reaching out to their new neighbors. Several Cedarville University students have come regularly to a Bible study near the campus, and a student club at the local community college is providing a new way to reach out to students there. Pastor Peppo continues to study in coffee shops and other public venues so he can meet new people. Pray that God will use these efforts to bring people to himself.
The people of AHPC are excited about what the Lord is doing in their midst. Attendance is on the rise, visitors are regularly attending, people are transferring in, and a new round of membership classes has just begun with at least five people. Please pray that the Lord would raise up elders and deacons for particularization. Please pray for boldness for the members to share their faith and invite people to church. Please pray that the Easter Sunday outreach would go well and that many visitors would attend, hear the gospel and be converted. And finally, please pray that the Lord would bless their outreach to Corona and Pasadena, and that congregations would be established in both locations.
Good Shepherd OPC held a community picnic in June, which attracted several visitors. Several of those visitors signed their children up for vacation Bible school, which was held last week. As a follow-up to VBS, the congregation is beginning an eight-week presentation of Christianity Explored for adults with Pilgrim’s Progress for children. In addition to invitations at VBS, members have invited friends, and the church’s website has a video advertising the series. Pray that many will attend. The congregation will soon lose three members as they move. Despite faithful effort in outreach, Good Shepherd has seen few local visitors. Pray that the Lord will bless these efforts by bringing both new believers and more core families to Good
