Pastor Ro is recovering from a six-week bout with laryngitis. The Lord provided for his people during the time when John could not preach or lead Bible studies. Two men, one under care of the Presbytery of the Midwest and one under care of the Presbytery of the Southeast, helped lead worship and Bible studies. Pray that God will restore John to full health, and that the Lord will give wisdom and strength as John keeps a busy schedule. Praise him for adding to the number of people who gather for the outreach Bible study on Wednesday evenings. Several new visitors have also begun regularly attending worship over the past few months. Pray that more visitors will be brought in.
After months of delays, Providence Presbyterian Church closed on its building. Several groups from around the country have gone to West Lebanon to do work on the building, which has helped the congregation see its connection to the denomination. Others have donated money and furniture. A new furnace has been installed. Pray that the Lord will provide a pianist who can play regularly. Several visitors have come as a result of the new building and an article in the local newspaper. Pastor Herndon notes that there is a sweet-spirited fellowship within the congregation. Pray that the congregation will be effective in reaching out to its new neighbors. Pray too for wisdom as they seek ways to reach students at nearby Dartmouth College.
Attendance at Trinity Presbyterian Church continues to increase slowly, but steadily. One family joined recently by letter of transfer, and Pastor Moersch is leading membership classes for several people. New visitors attend worship almost every week. Several members have begun meeting biweekly at a local coffee shop to discuss various Psalms. The first three meetings have yielded three contacts and one visitor to worship. Pray that more will come to worship as a result of these discussions. Pray for wisdom as the congregation seeks a more permanent location to rent. Praise God for his provision of work for one member, and pray that He will provide for others in the congregation as well.
Trinity Church has begun worshiping in a Lutheran congregation’s building in Syosset (sī’ ä set), NY, about six miles from their previous location. The new location is less expensive and has other advantages over the former location. With the move, the congregation now gathers for worship at 1 p.m. In the short time since the move, attendance has been up. While the worship services have moved, the congregation is still active in Huntington. The book and film club continues to attract many visitors and is now meeting in a cinema. Members also continue to serve the needy at a rescue mission in Huntington. Three deacons were ordained in August, and Pastor Miller says they are serving the congregation well. Pray for continued unity in the body
Verde Valley Reformed Chapel will begin meeting in a school in January. The new facility is only slightly more expensive than the current location, but is much more visible. Pray that greater visibility will lead to local visitors to worship, especially since many members live some distance from Cottonwood. VVRC had a booth at the local Fall Festival, and many people took literature about the church. Pray that these contacts will bear fruit. Pray too for wisdom as the congregation considers what outreach efforts will be effective. Pray for several in the congregation who are dealing with serious health issues. Pastor Chang is encouraged by the commitment of the core group, and the way that several members have recently taken on new
