Knox OPC is growing. Several children were recently baptized, and more are on the way. Two new families have begun worshiping with the congregation. Pray that the congregation will be faithful in reaching out to new people. A man in the congregation has been nominated as a candidate for the office of deacon. Many in the congregation attend a weekly Bible study currently focusing on Philippians. Pastor Walicord has preached on basic doctrines and eschatology and will soon begin a series on the Gospel of John. He is also preparing for a trip to Austria where he will preach and lead seminars on apologetics and church leadership. Pray that the Lord will raise up others in the congregation to teach Sunday school.
Sovereign Grace Reformed Church (OPC) voted recently to petition the Presbytery of the Midwest to organize them as a new and separate congregation. They also voted to call Rev. Harding as their pastor and Matthew Thornton as a ruling elder. Pray that they will be wise and faithfully lead the congregation in this time of transition. Three new communicant members, and three non-communicant members have been added to the congregation. Pray too that the Lord will bless the covenant children of the congregation. Ads recently run on a local Christian radio station did not yield any visitors. Pray that airing the advertisements next to Reformed programming will bear more fruit.
Trinity Church is growing. Two families joined in June, and there are often visitors at worship. Rent is expensive on Long Island, and the congregation needs more room. Pray that the Lord will provide a new facility with room to grow and more reasonable rent. Trinity is preparing to ordain and install three deacons on August 24. The men are already active in meeting the congregation’s diaconal needs. A young man in the congregation has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Pray that the Lord will make the congregation a blessing to him and his family. A feast held in July was well attended, and another is planned for August. Pray that plans for outreach over the coming months will bear much fruit.
The congregation of Hope OPC voted late last month to stop receiving denominational financial aid. Giving has been strong. Pray that the Lord will continue to provide financially. Over the last year, Hope’s mother congregation closed and merged with the daughter congregation. While summer numbers often dip, 60-70 people are gathering for worship on Sunday morning. Pray that the Lord will add new families to Hope. Pray too that God will give the session wisdom as they lead the congregation. The VFW where Hope meets is good for worship, but there is a lack of space for Sunday school, and parking is not ideal. Pray that the Lord will provide a more suitable location.
Summer is slow in Florida, and with many snowbirds heading north, Pastor Hausler prayed that the Lord would sustain Naples Presbyterian Church. He has. Indeed, when the snowbirds return, the congregation will likely need a larger space to hold worship. Praise God for his provision. A team from New Hope OPC in Green Bay, Wisconsin canvassed neighborhoods, visited shut-ins, and helped at the thrift store where Pastor Hausler rents an office. Several women from the community attend a Bible study led by Donna Hausler. One has come to church several times. Pray that more will attend. Pastor Hausler leads a Bible study with 25 men in the county jail. Pray especially that those who will soon be released will be faithful, living what they have
