Omega OPC now has two elders on the ground as their mother church, New Life OPC, ordained and installed another elder who is part of the Omega congregation. Praise God for his provision and pray that he will raise up deacons. The congregation has been searching for some time for a more suitable meeting location. Pray for wisdom and unity, as a good possibility has been located just blocks from the current meeting location. As in years past, several new visitors have come as classes start at nearby Penn College. The annual fall give-away event (of clothing and household items) was held recently and provided contacts with people in the community. Pray for wisdom in planning more outreach events. Pray too, that congregation will continue to
As Wolf River Presbyterian Church comes to the end of her program of denominational financial support, she has lost several families recently to moves out of the area. But, one new family has transferred their membership to Wolf River and several people are in a membership class. Despite the losses, the congregation remains encouraged and members continue to invite people to worship. A couple students have come to worship recently. Pray that God will send more visitors, and that those who come will desire to join. While numerical growth has been slow, the group continues to grow spiritually, and their love for one another is evident. Pray that the Lord will raise up local officers for the congregation.
Each week as the Herndon family drove to church, they prayed that an empty church building they passed would again be used as a church. Shortly after a for sale sign went up, an acquaintance told Pastor Herndon that she was buying the ideally-located building and giving it to Providence OPC. The closing has been delayed until the end of the month. Pray that the process goes smoothly. The building needs some work, mostly sprucing up. Please contact Pastor Herndon at email@example.com if you are able to help. Pray that the Lord will send a couple of mission-minded families to the work. Pray, too, for wisdom as the congregation seeks an effective way to reach out to students at nearby Dartmouth College and those living near the new building.
Pastor Golden and members of Sovereign Grace OPC conducted Table Top evangelism with about 20 people at Davenport’s recent StreetFest. Presentations have been made at other festivals, too, but only one visitor has come to worship. Pastor Golden is reminded of the parable of the sower. The group will have booths at two more festivals in the coming weeks. Pray that the Lord will cause the seed to be spread on fertile soil. One family recently joined the church, and another man made profession of faith and was baptized. Pray that this small group will be encouraged and not grow weary. Pray, too, that God will send mature Christians to the group. Several discipline cases have taken much of the session’s time. Pray that God will uphold the men
A couple of families have decided to leave Grace OPC, but two more families will become members within the next few weeks. A young couple has expressed interest in membership, and another couple has visited several times. Pray that visitors will desire to become members. Pray, too, that more people in this growing town will visit worship. Pastor Hoadley says the group is united. Pray that they will continue to grow together. Pray for wisdom as Pastor Hoadley and the overseeing session try to develop a plan for nourishing oversight for this isolated body on the edge of a very large presbytery. Pray, too, that the congregation will be wise and faithful as they make plans for outreach and evangelism.
