The congregation of Hope OPC voted late last month to stop receiving denominational financial aid. Giving has been strong. Pray that the Lord will continue to provide financially. Over the last year, Hope’s mother congregation closed and merged with the daughter congregation. While summer numbers often dip, 60-70 people are gathering for worship on Sunday morning. Pray that the Lord will add new families to Hope. Pray too that God will give the session wisdom as they lead the congregation. The VFW where Hope meets is good for worship, but there is a lack of space for Sunday school, and parking is not ideal. Pray that the Lord will provide a more suitable location.
Summer is slow in Florida, and with many snowbirds heading north, Pastor Hausler prayed that the Lord would sustain Naples Presbyterian Church. He has. Indeed, when the snowbirds return, the congregation will likely need a larger space to hold worship. Praise God for his provision. A team from New Hope OPC in Green Bay, Wisconsin canvassed neighborhoods, visited shut-ins, and helped at the thrift store where Pastor Hausler rents an office. Several women from the community attend a Bible study led by Donna Hausler. One has come to church several times. Pray that more will attend. Pastor Hausler leads a Bible study with 25 men in the county jail. Pray especially that those who will soon be released will be faithful, living what they have
Members of Good Shepherd OPC worked hard on their VBS program earlier this summer. Of the 40 children who came, only ten were from Good Shepherd. Pastor Malamisuro has followed up with families, and one has visited worship. The congregation has shown them hospitality. Pray that they will respond by returning to worship. Pray too that the congregation will be faithful to invite acquaintances to worship. Officer training will begin in September for two men nominated by the congregation. Pray that the Lord will use these men to bless his church. Three events are planned for the coming months. Pray that a talk on financial matters, a harvest party, and participation in Project Angel Tree will bear good fruit.
Two men have begun an officer-training course at Providence OPC in Tulsa. Pray that God will give them wisdom as they seek to discern God’s call to serve the church as officers. Attendance at morning worship has been in the fifties, and the congregation had to purchase new chairs and rearrange their rented space in order to have some breathing room. Two newer families have been attending regularly. Pray that visitors will desire to join the work. Several in the congregation have invited many to worship. Pray that the Lord will provide opportunities for broader outreach. Preparations are being made to hold an evening worship service instead of the Bible study that is currently held. Pray for the continued spiritual growth of the
Pastor Phil Strong and the people of Grace Reformed Fellowship are busy scattering seed in Wyoming’s ranch country. This week, they’ve had significant conversations with several people at the county fair and invited many more to worship. Pastor Strong was able to preach the gospel to several hundred at the funeral of a member’s grandfather. About twenty people gather in nearby Riverton for a weekly Bible study. Pray that these efforts will bear much fruit. The congregation moved to a new location on Main Street several months ago. Pastor Strong sees both numerical and spiritual growth in the congregation. Pray that the people will remain faithful and grow in their love for one another. Pray too for wisdom for the session as it ministers to
