What began as a Bible study in February 2012 is now Anaheim Hills Presbyterian Church. Worship services began on March 9. Worship, Sunday school, and a midweek Bible study are all held at the East Anaheim Community Center. About 30 people are currently gathering for worship. The congregation has a website and Facebook page, and they are working to let people know about this new Reformed work in North Orange County. Pray that the congregation will be faithful and effective in sharing the gospel with those around them. Pastor Chris Hartshorn graduated from Westminster Seminary California on Saturday and was installed on Sunday. He and his family will move to the Anaheim Hills area later this month.
The core group at San Antonio Reformed is committed, but there have been few visitors lately. Pray that more visitors will attend worship. The Presbytery of the Southwest agreed in May to continue to support the work for another year. Pray that the Lord will send more families so the work can become more locally supported. The group had to move from the restaurant where they met, and now worship is held at the Alamo University Center, which serves several local colleges. Pray that this location will lead to new outreach opportunities. Several members have begun helping a local crisis pregnancy center. Preparations are being made for the arrival later this summer of a short-term missions team from Trinity OPC in Hatboro, PA. Pray that the
The summer crowd is heading to Maine, and with it comes a need for space at Pleasant Mountain OPC in Bridgton. A committee has begun exploring solutions including changes to the current building. In addition to the usual summer crowd, some from the community have visited worship. The Special Olympics torch run will use Pleasant Mountain’s facilities for the second summer in a row, and the congregation will have a presence at several community events. Five covenant children are taking a membership class, and Reformed Teen Fellowship began last week. Pray that friends from outside the congregation will attend this youth group. Meetings are being held to discuss the ministry and work towards particularization has gone well.
Grace OPC was without a pastor for two years following Pastor Terry Thole’s retirement. The congregation continued to gather for worship, most often watching recorded sermons due to a lack of pulpit supply. Praise the Lord that a new organizing pastor, Greg Hoadley, arrived two weeks ago. The California native is excited to begin working with the group of five families. Several people began attending worship shortly before the Hoadleys arrived. Pray that the group will continue to grow together. There are about 225,000 people in the greater Fargo area, and thanks to an oil and gas boom, the population is growing. Pray that the Word of God will be faithfully preached and that people will have invite friends and acquaintances to worship the
Pastor Bennett has seen good growth in the students involved in the Sola Gratia student group at nearby Alice Lloyd College. Pray that transportation will be available to bring the students to Neon Reformed Presbyterian Church this fall. Praise the Lord that the congregation has grown by 55% since Pastor Bennett arrived two years ago. Pray for outreach efforts at various festivals throughout spring and summer. The budget approved at the beginning of the year projected running out of money in June. That has now been moved back to September, but help is needed. Praise God for his provision through the Presbytery of the Southeast and gifts from other congregations. Pray too for wisdom in difficult counseling cases.
