Cornerstone OPC lost one of its core families earlier this year, when it moved due to health reasons. The same week, God provided two new visiting families. One of which has visited regularly. Please pray that both of these families will become regular in attendance and join with the body. About 10 people from the congregation are preparing to study Geerhardus Vos’s Biblical Theology. Pray that God will build up his people through this study. Pastor Robert (Christy) Arendale reports that officer training continues to go well. Pray that Cornerstone will continue to make progress toward particularization. Each Sunday Pastor Arendale’s sermons are broadcast on a local radio station. Pray that those who listen will be blessed, and that the Lord
Covenant OPC was organized as a new and separate congregation of the OPC on December 15. Christopher (Della) Chelpka will continue to serve the congregation as its pastor; two elders and one deacon were ordained and installed. Pray that God will bless the new officers with wisdom as they lead the church. A men’s fellowship group will begin meeting this month. Covenant Reformed Christian Fellowship, the congregation’s outreach to students, faculty and staff of the University of Arizona was recently recognized as an official club on campus. They begin meeting on campus this week after months of stretching the limits of a church member’s living room where they had been meeting. Pray that God will use this ministry to bring many to himself.
Pastor Joseph (Carla) Fowler reports that about 65 people gather for worship each week. Several people are considering membership, and another four families have been visiting regularly. Two Sunday school classes will begin in March - one for younger children, and another for older children and adults. A rotation of men identified as possible officer candidates will teach a class on the Westminster Confession. Pray that God will bless the congregation through this teaching and give wisdom as it begins to consider whom the Lord will call to lead them. Please pray for wisdom in the planning of organized outreach efforts for the year. Pray too that God will continue to draw people in through members’ personal invitations, and that visitors
Trinity OPC has had a good number of visitors on a regular basis. Thank the Lord that some have become regular attenders. Pastor Jonathan (Kristin) Moersch says one woman attended twice after receiving a flier from Regional Home Missionary David Crum and some young people of the presbytery who had come to assist with outreach. Another couple has become increasingly involved over the last several months, and last week four young single adults joined the congregation by reaffirmation of faith. A family in the church recently adopted a child. Two children will be baptized in the coming months. Praise God for the ways he is building his church. The school where Trinity meets is adequate for Sunday mornings, but it is not available for other
Last spring, Grace OPC had about 20 members. With several people preparing to join in the next two months, that number has swelled to 50. Last summer, not one visitor attended worship. Pastor Joshua (Jessica) Lyon praises God for bringing many visitors since then. Members and friends put in 600 hours of labor to renovate the foyer, a hallway and a Sunday school room. While more maintenance and renovation projects are needed, these improvements have been an encouragement to the people. Pray for wisdom as efforts are made to utilize the building every day of the week. Specifically, pray for the development of an effective outreach to a large number of homeless people in the area. Pray too that the Lord will provide someone to re-design
