Pastor Andrew Moody reports that San Antonio Reformed Church is slowly growing. One family is taking a membership class, and another recently completed one. There are also several families that have become regular visitors at worship. Praise God that giving has been generous the past few months. The Moodys regularly host fellowship activities at their house, and Andrew actively seeks opportunities to minister to the broader community. Pray that the congregation will have the opportunity and desire for intentional outreach efforts. Andrew and Billie Moody are highly involved in the Presbytery of the Southwest’s youth camp held in early July. Pray that God will bless those from San Antonio Reformed and around the Presbytery as they attend.
Providence OPC has entered into a period of financial struggle, due in large part to the increasing cost of Pastor Stephen Payson's health insurance over the last several years. The Presbytery of Central Pennsylvania is graciously providing additional financial support to the congregation, but Providence's greatest need is for additional families. The Lord has already brought one such family who desires to join the church and will be participating in an upcoming membership class. Pray that the Lord will provide more families to join the body. Pray too that the inquirers classes, based on Daniel Hyde’s book Welcome to a Reformed Church! will be a blessing to those who attend. The congregation will also be having more informal "dinner and
Tony Garbarino began his labors at Covenant OPC in San Jose, Calif., this month. He is serving as a church planting intern, and he will spend the first part of his year in San Jose. After a few months, he will begin working to develop a core group in the San Francisco Bay area. Pray that those who have expressed interest will be committed to the work and that new people will be added. Pray for wisdom for Tony, Covenant’s pastor Jeff Landis, and the session as they make preparations to plant a church. Pray that God will gather his people through this work.
Knox OPC is growing slowly and steadily. Last week two people made profession of faith, and a member was received by letter of transfer. Others have expressed interest in membership. Pastor Sacha Walicord reports that a recent marriage and family conference went well. Pray that this and other outreach efforts will be fruitful in bringing new visitors to worship. Two deacon candidates and one elder candidate are currently in an officer training course as the congregation hopes to particularize by the end of the year. Pray that the training will continue to go well, and that the organizing process including the election of officers will go smoothly. Pray too that the Lord will provide financially for this work.
Resurrection OPC has been meeting for morning and evening worship in separate locations. Those gathered for morning worship are filling their space in a catering facility. After extensive research, they will be holding both services in a larger room at the catering facility. Give thanks to God for his provision of one location where both services can be held. With the Spring semester over, Pastor Jeremiah Montgomery is taking a break from Discuss Your Faith, his open-air preaching on Penn State’s campus. He is teaching a Bible survey course in the adult Sunday school class. Two babies were baptized recently, and three new members will be received this month. Four men continue to take an officer training course. Pray that the congregation
