Wolf River Presbyterian Church has only had a couple of visitors in the last several months. Visitors have made favorable comments about the congregation and the worship service, but they have not returned. Pray that past visitors will return and that new visitors will come. Still Pastor Mark Winder is encouraged, noting that the congregation is growing spiritually and growing in love for one another. “The communion of the saints is being practiced in a wonderful way,” he said. Families are showing hospitality to one another, and young people are supporting their peers at recitals and other events. The women meet twice monthly for Bible study and fellowship. Pastor Winder is preparing to go door to door in the area around the church. Pray
Attendance at Cornerstone OPC has been slowly increasing as the congregation faithfully gathers and visitors come to worship. Several visitors attended worship on a recent outreach Sunday after being invited by members. A number of people are taking an inquirers class, and others have indicated an interest in membership. Pastor Robert Arendale will soon meet with a local radio station to discuss the possibility of advertisements or even airing a program. Pray for wisdom as decisions are made about the best way to use the radio to reach people in Houston. A building fund has been started, and Pastor Arendale had an initial meeting with a real estate agent to get the lay of the land. Pray that God will provide a suitable facility in his time.
Providence OPC has a somewhat steady stream of visitors. Pastor Jim Stevenson reports that the members of the congregation are active in outreach, inviting friends and neighbors to worship. Pray that God will provide continued growth, and patience since this small group is surrounded by many large churches. The congregation has begun searching for better facilities. A space at a strip mall has become available. The location would not require much work to be usable since it was previously used by another church. Unlike their current location, it could be used by Providence throughout the week, and it has space for Sunday school. Pray for wisdom regarding this possible move.
Attendance has been steady at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church with about 45 people gathering each Sunday morning for worship, but the congregation recently lost a family and their only deacon to an out-of-state relocation. Pray that God will raise up deacons from the congregation. Praise God that giving has been generous, exceeding expenses last month. Pastor Chad Mullinix says there is an interest in outreach among members of the congregation. Outreach events are planned every other month, including last Sunday’s Friend Day and a Palm Sunday service held at a local retirement center. Members have been active going out into their neighborhoods and inviting people to church as well. Pray for wisdom as future events are planned.
Omega OPC must deal with the noise of a recording studio above them, a lack of Sunday school space, and visitors having difficulty finding them at their worship location at the Pajama Factory – a complex of eight former industrial buildings. Praise God that gifts from both inside and outside the church have enabled the beginning of a building fund, and pray that he will provide a new location in his time. Pray too for wisdom in advertising and making the church more visible. Eight people not associated with the work attended a piano concert outreach event in March, and a repeat of last year’s successful ice cream social outreach is planned for June. A fair number of visitors have found Omega, with a few becoming regular. Pray that more
