Pastor Christopher Chelpka reports that visitors continue to come to Covenant OPC. Many are Christians, but a growing number of unbelievers are visiting too. Twenty-nine people from nine households are taking a membership class. While Covenant’s meeting place is currently adequate, those assembled are nearing the building’s capacity with increasing regularity. Pray that God will provide a new facility when it is needed. Preparations are being made to host a PCA short-term missions team from Canada. Pray that God will bless this and other outreach efforts aimed at the neighborhood immediately surrounding Covenant’s current meeting location. Pray too for the ongoing officer training class.
Reformation OPC continues to wait on a ruling regarding churches using NYC Public School buildings for worship. The ruling could come tomorrow or a month from now. Humanly speaking, it is expected that this court will rule against the churches. Pastor Brad Hertzog reports that the issue is whether it would lead to a short-term interruption, or a permanent move to another facility. A move would be a challenge logistically and perhaps financially. Pray that God will provide a favorable ruling, but that, if his will is otherwise, the congregation would trust him to provide. Please continue to pray that the Lord would grow Reformation OPC in holiness, and increase its focus on the lost around them. Pray too that the Lord would raise up leaders
Hillsdale OPC is made up of two parts – college and community. On the college side, the freshmen are getting well acquainted with the church. Some come from OPC backgrounds, some from different church backgrounds, and some from no church background. Please pray for the ongoing ministry to these students. On the community side of things, the Lord has added a family that moved into the area. Please pray for Pastor Everett Henes’s plans for a winter Bible study at the community library, similar to the annual summer study that has attracted people from the community. Pray too that God will give wisdom as the congregation is considering purchasing a building located three blocks from the college campus and two blocks from downtown. The facility
Remember to keep Providence OPC and her pastor John Hilbelink in your prayers as they have completed their program of denominational financial assistance. Pray for the men who are attending officer training. Pastor Hilbelink gives thanks for God’s provision of elders Phil Luginbill who lives in Rockford and continues his faithful service, and Bruce Mulder who served the church faithfully as part of the overseeing session for the last four years. He is thankful too for the faithful financial and prayer support of the OPC. Six people are participating in membership classes. Pray that God will continue to bless Providence by adding new members and visitors to the congregation. Pray too that God will use Pastor Hilbelink’s catechism classes to
Between 25 and 30 people gather for worship each week at Verde Valley Reformed Chapel. Pastor Brian Chang reports that the congregational life of the church is growing stronger. A small stream of visitors has come to worship recently. Because of the good response to the Hebrew class that Brian taught earlier this year, he is planning to begin a new class. Please pray that new people will come to the Hebrew class and that God will use it to bring people to Verde Valley Reformed Chapel. Pray too as the board of a local crisis pregnancy center discusses Brian’s offer to lead a Bible study for clients.
