The number of people worshiping at Gateway OPC has dropped from last year as several large families have moved out of the area, but God has been regularly adding single people and smaller families to the body. One student at a local university and a recent college graduate have been particularly active in telling their friends about Gateway. Praise God for the new people that have been added, and for the effective way that they have been ministered to. Pray also that more families will be added to the congregation. As the weather warms up, plans are being made to begin knocking on doors as was done last fall. Pastor Todd Wagenmaker – also a lawyer – is preparing to offer a few estate-planning seminars as an outreach event.
The local library recently purchased the building where Redeemer OP Mission worships, and Redeemer was able to sign a favorable one-year lease. An evening Bible study has been added to the Lord’s Day calendar. The congregation is preparing to receive three new communicant members, and two covenant children will be baptized this month. Visitors attend worship most weeks. Pray that regular visitors will desire to join the congregation. Preparations are being made for a conference on “Oceans of Emotions” with Pastor Albaugh and George Scipione speaking. Pray that many from the community will attend the conference, and that they will return for worship. Plans are also being made for leadership training. Pray that the scheduling will work out as
Please pray for Ross and Nikki Graham as Ross completes his service as General Secretary of CHMCE. Please pray for John and Anne Shaw and their children as John takes up his labors as the General Secretary. Ask the Lord to provide a house for the Shaws that will make a good home for them near the administrative offices and for the sale of their home in St. Paul, Minnesota at a good price.
Remember the people of the Greater Reading Chinese Church and their pastor Jonathan Peters as their denominational aid comes to an end. The group will become part of Covenant OPC in Reading. Because many in the group are not English speakers, facilities are being set up in Covenant’s new building so that the worship service can be translated. Pray that Covenant’s building will be completed soon. Pray too that God will bless both congregations in this transition, and that the integration will go smoothly.
Pastor Sacha Walicord reports that the people of Knox OPC are growing closer to one another, and they are committed to the work. The congregation was encouraged last week as one of the covenant children made profession of faith. Regular visitors combine with about 45 members for an average attendance around 55 people at morning worship. The men of the church have been studying the biblical requirements for officers, and the mission work is holding nominations for office. Pray that God will raise up faithful officers to lead this group. Knox will hold a marriage and family seminar in early April with Dr. George Scipione as the speaker. Pray that many would benefit from the conference, and that Knox will become better known through the event.
