Faith Presbyterian Church is in a season of change as they reach the end of their period of denominational financial support. Pastor Matt Figura reports that giving is consistent. The congregation is losing one member who is moving away, but several Tennessee Technical University (TTU) graduates have found jobs and plan to stay at Faith. The fall semester has begun at TTU, and two new students have come to worship. Pray that there will be opportunity to begin a Bible study on the TTU campus and that students will be brought into the congregation as a result. Four men will soon begin an officer-training course. Pray that the congregation will remain united in purpose and that God will raise up a session that will be unified and have a strong
Give thanks with Reformation Presbyterian Church that they have been able to worship in the public school building throughout the summer, but please pray for yet another upcoming ruling in September regarding churches’ ability to meet in New York’s public schools. An appeals court that has continually ruled against the churches is set to rule yet again. Pray that the Lord will allow the Reformation congregation to remain in the school, or provide a suitable location if they are evicted. Pastor Brad Hertzog reports that the Lord has opened doors for teaching and discipleship with a growing number of students at St. John’s University and asks that we pray for these opportunities to expand as the new school year begins. The Presbytery of the Southwest is seeking to plant a church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pastor Todd Bordow plans to begin a Bible study on Sunday evenings to determine the level of interest in planting a church there. The overseeing session of Mercy OPC in Cedarburg, Wisconsin has determined to close the mission work effective September 30. Pastor Jim Hoekstra's relationship with the overseeing congregation, Falls OPC, will be dissolved at the fall meeting of the presbytery. Please pray that God will continue to care for those who were a part of the work. Pray too that God would give wisdom to Pastor Hoekstra as he seeks to determine where the Lord will have him serve.
