Jim Bosgraf has been active traveling to the Presbytery of the Midwest’s various mission works. He attended worship and a meeting at Gateway OPC in St. Louis, Missouri as the congregation discussed future ministry focus. He worshipped with Covenant Family Church in Troy, Missouri as they said goodbye to their retiring pastor. In Oshkosh, Wisconsin he participated in the ordination and installation of Bob Holda, and in Rockford, Illinois he participated in the organization service of Providence OPC. Praise the Lord for his blessing on the many church plants Jim has assisted over the years. Pray for wisdom as he continues to do spade work for future works throughout the presbytery.
About two years ago, a living room Bible study began with several families attending. The group, with some past ties to the OPC, contacted Mark Sumpter and began working with the Presbytery of the Northwest to plant a church. The Graves family arrived in Coeur d’Alene about two months ago and has been warmly received. The group has grown to nearly 90 in attendance at Sunday morning worship, and they are outgrowing their current location. Pray that the Lord will provide a new worship facility for them. The group has invited friends, and there are visitors most Sundays. Pray for the start of a new members class with several families. Preparations are being made for an officer training class. Pray that the Lord will raise up officers.
Good Shepherd has seen a good number of visitors who have found the congregation through online searches in recent months. A family from Cameroon has been attending for much of the year. A couple from Ghana has attended somewhat regularly and brought a friend with them. One of Good Shepherd’s families will be moving to Illinois next year. A recent conference on Spiritual Foundations was well received. The congregation’s annual Angel Tree participation and lessons and carols service on Christmas Eve are coming up. Pray that the Lord will use these to bring new families into the church. The church is entering its final year of denominational support. Pray that the Lord will provide financial stability for the coming years.
Pastor Strong recently finished a sermon series on Galatians, and he will soon begin preaching through Titus. Pray that the people of Grace Reformed Fellowship will continue to grow in obedience as they hear these sermons. Pray too that Pastor Strong will remain faithful in his calling, sewing good seed and encouraging the people. In addition to worship each Lord’s Day, members participate in Sunday school, and the group gathers again in the evening for a study of the Westminster Confession of Faith. Praise God that the congregation’s current rental situation is stable. As cattle prices have fallen, pray that the Lord will provide all that his people need. Pray too for wisdom as the congregation seeks effective ways to reach out to the
Officer training will begin soon as New City Fellowship moves towards particularization. Pray that the Lord will raise up additional officers to lead the flock. After a slight dip in attendance, about 225 people gather regularly each Lord’s Day. The congregation currently meets for morning worship, Sunday school and a fellowship meal. Pray for wisdom as they consider adding Sunday evening activities. Pray for continued unity in this multicultural congregation during a polarizing political season, that God’s people will weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. Pray that the Lord will bless the congregation’s ministry at the local jail. Pray too, that members will continue to invite friends and neighbors to worship.
