Pastor Ben Miller gives thanks for the Lord’s provisions and protection during the last month before worship services begin at Trinity Church on September 25. Storm Irene left the houses of the core group families undamaged, as well as the Elks Lodge in Huntington where they plan to worship. Three core group meetings in August went very well: the group (which currently numbers around 70 people, including two ruling elders, a teacher, and a deacon) is enthusiastic and ready to begin serving in the new work. The Lord has provided financially through the tithes and offerings of His people, and also through some gifts that helped defray various start-up costs. Their website www.trinitychurchlongisland.com was launched in the last month and they hope to do much more with it in the future. Pray that the final days before they begin worship, and the first few months after they begin, will be filled with the Lord’s grace to help them organize well, to worship Him robustly, to witness boldly in His name, and to show the watching world the proof of their discipleship in unity and love for one another.
