Pastor Lowell Ivey reflects on the shooting on May 31 which took place at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, just a few miles from Reformation Presbyterian Church. “While we were not directly affected, we are praying for the community, public officials, police, EMTs and other first responders, and for the families of the victims. Please ask the Lord to use this devastating event as an open door to the Gospel. Pray, too, that the churches of Virginia Beach would have a renewed sense of the urgency of the Gospel and that they would be faithful witnesses of Christ in our community.” Reformation continues to grow well, and they hope to have a congregational meeting in late July or early August to elect officers, approve bylaws, call a pastor, and petition the presbytery to receive the work as an organized congregation of the OPC. Pray for their progress toward organization. Finally, pray for the development of their daughter congregation in Yorktown. Lowell is excited to share that the Presbytery of the Southeast voted at its April meeting to receive Peninsula Reformed Presbyterian Church as a mission work within its bounds, under the oversight of the session of Reformation.
