Pastor Matt Cotta writes, “Pasadena Presbyterian Church has had its share of ups and downs of late. Because we weren’t seeing much fruit from the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Bible study or the Monrovia Street Fair outreach, we have put these on hold and instead arefocusing our efforts on our Chinese outreach and the monthly Pasadena Farmers’ Market. In terms of our Chinese outreach, a church member who is a Westminster California graduate will soon begin holding a Mandarin language Bible study in our churchon Sundays. He will advertise the study by word of mouth and in a local Chinese newspaper. Also, on Sunday, October 6 we began offering real-time English to Mandarin translation during our worship service. Regarding our Farmers’ Market outreach, we have received several visitors due to our presence there. The challenges posed by the high price of housing/renting in the area are significant, however. We have already seen a few of our members and attendees move out of state for primarily financial reasons. Additionally, the government here in California is increasingly hostile to the Christian faith and Christian institutions. That said, we plant and water and the Lord can give growth whenever, wherever, and however he deems best. Thank you all for your continued prayers for us.”
