Pastor Bill Welzien writes: “I am profoundly thankful for the outpouring of care, concern and prayer for my family and me with the passing of my beloved wife of 42 years. My dear Sessie was a faithful helpmeet and the mother of our nine beautiful children. I am reminded that every day is a day of grace which must be appreciated and not taken for granted. The Lord has used my pain, and His comfort to me, as a platform to encourage His saints and warn lost sinners to flee to Christ as life is unpredictable and brief.” Pastor Welzien conducted the burial service for Sessie at the local cemetery, preaching God’s Truth to about 50 in attendance. The next morning he ministered to those in attendance at Keys Presbyterian Church. His message was from Psalm 119:75-77 entitled: He Afflicted Me! (see: sermonaudio.com). On October 19 at Sessie’s Memorial Service he had the opportunity to eulogize his departed wife and bring the Gospel to a very eclectic group consisting of OPC people, broadly evangelicals and the unchurched (can be seen on YouTube). About 10 of the approximately 150 in attendance were performers from Mallory Square who have known “Bible Bill,” for some three decades. Some of them had not been in a church service for ages. Please pray that the Lord would use His Word to strengthen His people and to bring the wayward to Himself.
