Presently there are six mission works in the Presbytery of Southern California: one in Arizona, one on Oahu, and four in Southern California. But Regional Home Missionary Dave Crum reports that they are hopeful for the upcoming addition of two new works: one near Prescott Presbyterian in the town of Williams, AZ, and the other in Thousand Oaks, CA. For the latter, the Presbytery eagerly awaits the arrival of Rev. Caleb Smith and his family to work in developing a core group there. While, for obvious reasons, things are somewhat up in the air, they are still praying that the Smith family can arrive in Thousand Oaks in June of this year. Lastly, Pastor Josh Lyon of Grace OPC of Carson, CA rejoices along with the members of the church that the Lord has raised up leaders from their midst who are currently being trained for office. All are hoping that Grace OPC can be reconstituted as a particular congregation (it is a revitalization work) this year or next.
