At the beginning of August, Christ Covenant OPC spent five days reaching out to the community at the McHenry County Fair. In all, they distributed close to 400 pieces of information about the Gospel and the church, gave away over 200 bottles of water, and had several meaningful conversations with people--both fair-goers and vendors. Some of those people expressed interest in visiting Christ Covenant. Pastor Brandon Wilkins reports that the members walked away from the fair encouraged about what had happened and enthusiastic as they look forward to future opportunities. Please pray that God will use the contacts from the fair to bring new visitors. Pray too that God will bless future outreach efforts in the Crystal Lake community.
Pastor Markus Jeromin and the congregation of Providence Presbyterian Church have seen good turnouts at their Wednesday night Bible study and summer fellowship activities. Please pray for God’s rich blessings on coming outreach events and on the ministry of the Word each Lord’s Day morning and evening. Please ask the Lord of the harvest to lead many to see the love of the people of Providence and be compelled to seek the Lord and unite with the congregation. Pray too that the members of this small work will not become discouraged, and ask the Great Shepherd to raise up additional office-bearers. Finally, please pray that the Lord will cause some mature, Reformed believers to relocate to Manistee to join and help with the work.
With summer bringing a relative lull in on-campus activity, Pastor Jeremiah Montgomery has spent more time teaching and visiting house-to-house. Two families are in the process of joining Resurrection OPC, and another young lady publicly confessed her faith in June. An officer training course has commenced with a handful of promising candidates. Though morning and evening worship services remain in different physical locations, attendance at both services is increasing and the congregation continues to be encouraged and united. Please pray for the Lord to sustain and bless Resurrection OPC as she seeks to reach out into the community and welcomes students back to PSU at the end of this month. Read more - Home Missions Today
Pastor John Ro reports that Gospel Life Church is thankful for God's blessings and has good momentum. Four people recently become members, and an average of 28 people have visited in each of the past five months. The evening services have also seen an increase in attendance. Pastor Ro says, “It is exciting to see people taking the initiative to plan get-togethers and to see them actively encouraging one another.” Please pray for upcoming outreach and fellowship events. Also, please pray for a new Bible study that Gospel Life hopes to start in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. Pray too for stronger finances. Read more - Home Missions Today (pdf)
Attendance at Wolf River Presbyterian Church (WRPC) averaged over 50 for the first time in July. Pastor Mark Winder, who has been at WRPC for almost two years, is pleased to see this growth. Collierville is in the Bible belt and every door in town has been knocked on more than once. Pastor Winder says most of the visitors they see have come as a result of the church’s Internet presence, which includes advertising on Facebook. Other visitors have come after being invited by members. Work on the building where WRPC worships is progressing. When finished, it will be “humble, but smart” according to Pastor Winder. While several other churches use the space during the week, WRPC will be able to put up pictures and bulletin boards. Pray
