Please join the OPC of Rio Rancho, NM in giving thanks to God for his abundant blessings. Pastor Todd Bordow reports that attendance is in the mid-eighties meaning that the congregation is running out of room in its current building. In the midst of a weak economy they are more than $10,000 above budget in 2012. The church welcomed nine new members during the summer, and five more are seeking membership this fall. The members are very welcoming to visitors and active in service and fellowship. Please pray that more young people will join the church, as they only have four or five people in their twenties and few young children.
Providence OPC has had several new visitors in recent months. Pastor Stephen Payson asks us to pray for additional young families. In order to better serve families already at Providence, and any who may come, there are now two children’s Sunday school classes. A plan has been laid out to offer “core courses” for the adult Sunday school class. A young man who has been attending for nearly a year is preparing to profess his faith in Christ and will be baptized. Give thanks that giving continues to be very good, but pray for God’s continued provision as outside financial support winds down. Pray too that qualified men will be identified for leadership training in the coming year.
Trinity OPC will host a Fall Bible Conference with Alan Strange speaking on the theme “The New Life in Christ.” The congregation has spread the word about the conference by way of newspaper, radio and the Internet. Please pray that this will be a blessing to those who attend, and that many from the greater Huntington area will attend. There has been a good turnout at the Bible study on the campus of Marshall University, and Pastor David Robbins is hoping to expand on it. Please pray that the Lord will make his will clear for this congregation, and ask him to send new families to Trinity. Pray too for those in the congregation who are facing financial difficulties, including some who are in need of employment.
Give praise to God with Regional Home Missionary Larry Oldaker who is able to see clearly for the first time in about four years. After noticing blurred vision, he went to his eye doctor and eventually a specialist who was able to find an eyeglass prescription, which, in addition to eye therapy, has finally corrected his vision. Larry says, “I’m thankful that God provided a doctor to work with me and get me to this point.” Pray too for Larry’s work in Huron, Ohio. He asks us to pray that God will bring new families to the group that is worshiping there.
Pastor Chad Mullinix is encouraged by the testimonies he hears from those who have joined Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church. Several more people have recently joined the church, and a few young families have been attending. One single man who was recently introduced to the Reformed faith has expressed thankfulness for the way he has been warmly received by the congregation. The ladies of the church have begun a twice-monthly Bible study, and several women who had not been to Holy Trinity are attending the study. Pray that the congregation will respond to God’s word, not only by growing in grace, but also by reaching out to lost friends and neighbors. The congregation will gather for a fellowship night during which they will they will
