Pastor Ben Miller gives thanks for the Lord’s provisions and protection during the last month before worship services begin at Trinity Church on September 25. Storm Irene left the houses of the core group families undamaged, as well as the Elks Lodge in Huntington where they plan to worship. Three core group meetings in August went very well: the group (which currently numbers around 70 people, including two ruling elders, a teacher, and a deacon) is enthusiastic and ready to begin serving in the new work. The Lord has provided financially through the tithes and offerings of His people, and also through some gifts that helped defray various start-up costs. Providence OPC gives thanks for the faithful prayers and giving of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Pastor John Hilbelink urges us to give thanks for officers and members who love the Lord and the Reformed faith. They have been blessed with visitors from the Rockford area who have continued to worship with them. Some have come because they were moved by the joy evidenced in the personal witness of members of the Providence congregation. Collierville, Tennessee
For the past year, the Lord has provided Wolf River Presbyterian Church with the rental of a beautiful and spacious church building in their suburban Memphis area community. But at the beginning of July, Pastor Mark Winder received a phone call telling him that the building had been sold, and that WRPC would need to find a new meeting place – in four weeks! In a town where nearly every square inch is taken up by a new group assembling, the scramble began for a new meeting place. After nearly all options were exhausted, the Lord opened up a door to meet in a spacious fellowship hall at another church's facility in Collierville.
